How to Use the Paintworks® Recipe Calculator

The Paintworks® Recipe Calculator is a great tool for anyone to easily find and create recipes with the Paintworks® line of product. You can find a list of pre-made recipes at goldenpaintworks.com/recipes. Find the recipe you like best and click on it to go into the full recipe. Here you will find a description of the recipe along with the recipe pre-populated into the calculator. The Calculator will let you scale ingredients, determine coverage amount, modify the recipe, and download it to a PDF for offline use. Below the Calculator you will find techniques related to the recipe. These are some techniques we suggest using with the recipe. If you are looking to create a recipe from scratch you can easily reset any pre-made recipe or find a blank Calculator at goldenpaintworks.com/calculator. In this document we’ll cover the functionality of the Calculator.
This guide will refer to the ingredient box as the area where the ingredients are displayed.

Adding Ingredients

To get started we’ll need to add some ingredients. Find a pre-built recipe or follow these instructions to add a new ingredient.
Click the button below the recipe.
(Or click the Add Ingredient link inside the ingredient box if it is empty.)
The ingredient editor will appear above the ingredient box.

All fields must be filled out in order to add the ingredient:
Ingredient – Select one of our products from the drop-down.
Amount – Enter a number for the quantity or a tint machine unit represented like; “Full fluid ounces”x”Machine Units”. For example (143×5.76). Then select the appropriate unit from the dropdown. If using a tint machine unit in the quantity make sure a tint machine unit is selected or else converting may not work properly.

Once all fields have been filled out, changing the unit will automatically convert the quantity to the newly selected unit.
Click the button to add the ingredient to the ingredient box and close the ingredient editor.
Click the button to reset the form and close the ingredient editor.

Edit Ingredients

Once an ingredient has been added to the ingredient box there are different actions that can be performed on the ingredient. One action is the ability to edit a specific ingredient. Follow these instructions to edit an ingredient.
Click on the edit link next to the ingredient you would like to edit.
The ingredient editor will appear above the ingredient box with the ingredient details already filled out.

All fields must be filled out to submit the edit to the ingredient box.
You can edit any field as you wish. When all fields are filled out the converter is activated. Changing the unit will automatically convert the quantity.
Click the button to save your edits to the ingredient in the ingredient box and close the ingredient editor.
Click the button to prevent any edits and close the ingredient editor.

Scale Ingredients

The scale function takes the quantity of the ingredient and multiplies it by a number given.

Scale Individual Ingredient

Click on the scale link next to the ingredient you would like to scale its quantity.
The scale editor appears above the ingredient box.

The scale field must be filled out to work.
When one product is select it will indicate which product it is looking to scale. Input the number you would like to multiply the ingredients quantity by.
Click the button to scale the ingredients quantity, save it to the ingredient box, and close the scale editor.
Click the button to prevent scaling and close the scale editor.

Scale All Ingredients

Once more than one ingredient is in the ingredient box you will have to option to scale all the ingredients.
Click on the Scale All link above the ingredient box. The scale editor appears above the ingredient box.

The scale field must be filled out to work.
The editor will indicate now that all ingredients will be scaled by x times. Input the number you would like to multiply each ingredients quantity by.
Click the button to scale each ingredients quantities, save them to the ingredient box, and close the scale editor.
Click the button to prevent any scaling and close the scale editor.

Coverage

Once an ingredient is entered to the ingredient box the coverage option will become available. This is useful for determining how much product will be need to cover a wall or room.
Click on the Coverage link above the ingredient box. The coverage editor appears above the ingredient box.

All fields must be filled out for the coverage calculation to work:
Sample Size – This is the known amount the ingredients in the ingredient box will cover. The boxes are width “x” height. Then make sure the appropriate unit is selected.
Finished Size – This is the size of the wall or room you would like to cover. The boxes are width “x” height. Then make sure the appropriate unit is selected.

Click the button to scale each ingredients quantities, save them to the ingredient box, and close the scale editor.
Click the button to prevent any scaling and close the scale editor.
Remove Ingredients
Ingredients may be remove individually or all at once.
To remove a specific ingredient, click the remove link next to the ingredient you would like to remove.
To remove all ingredients in the ingredient box click the button below the ingredient box.
