Carmen Illustrates was created back in 1999 as a way to channel Carmen Lomax’s passion for the decorative arts and painting to a wider audience. With a Fine Arts degree from Arizona State University, she worked as a textile artist and licensed her illustrations to the garment industry for many years. It became apparent that there was a lack of satisfaction in not seeing how her artwork affected the end user on a more emotional level, so Carmen decided to go off on her own with the main goal of creating creative environments.
The business has grown from realistic murals and high-end kids rooms to commercial and residential spaces, with an emphasis on coming up with creative options for any space, whether it be high end plaster finishes, metallics, gilding, elaborate ceilings, refinishing furniture pieces and custom textures. Carmen Illustrates approaches everything with a fine arts perspective and her main goal is to create a one of a kind product that brings joy to the home owner for years to come, as well as that wow factor that is sure to have the neighbors talking! Carmen Lomax resides in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area and examples of her work can be seen on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and Houzz.
